around Deddington

Deddington sits on the eastern edge of Cotswold country, a working village rather than a showpiece one, and that is much of its appeal. Within a couple of miles you'll find eight places to eat and drink, which is a generous number for a settlement this size, along with somewhere to stay, one visitor attraction and a waymarked walk on the doorstep. It suits a slow half-day more than a packed itinerary: you can park up, wander, eat well and be out into open countryside within minutes. If you're heading towards Clifton, the village notice board there is worth a glance for whatever local events happen to be running that week.

A good few hours might start with the Deddington Circular Walk - East, which takes you out of the village and back without needing a map in your hand the whole time. Come back for coffee and something warm at the Coffeeshop Company, then settle in at The Crown & Tuns for a pint and a proper sit down. If you're staying into the evening, Otters Restaurant is the place for a longer meal, though May Fu 2 makes an easier choice when you want supper without ceremony.
