Things to do
in Carterton

Carterton is a practical, lived-in sort of place, and that's rather the point. This is a town that gets on with things rather than performing for visitors, which means the welcome tends to be straightforward and the prices sensible. Within easy reach you'll find places to eat and drink, places to visit, places to stay and useful services, a decent spread if you're basing yourself here for a night or two, or simply breaking a journey between the better-known Cotswold villages. It suits travellers who'd rather queue behind locals than coach parties.

A good few hours here usually revolves around food. Start at the Bread Bin for something to carry with you, or leave it until later and let the smell of the Burford Road Fish Bar make the decision for you. If you'd prefer to sit down properly, Aangon Indian Restaurant is the sort of place worth lingering over, while The Terra Pizza handles a hungry family without fuss. Round things off at No.1 Sweet Spot, then walk it off before you drive on.
