You'll find this independent operation in Upper Tysoe combining two attractions that don't often appear together: a marionette theatre and a cinema.
It's the sort of thing you wouldn't necessarily expect to stumble upon in a quiet village, which is rather part of its appeal.
The marionette theatre is the real centerpiece. Skilled puppeteers control beautifully made marionettes to tell stories with impressive precision, and it works surprisingly well across all ages—children are genuinely absorbed by the performance, while adults tend to appreciate the craft and technique on display. The cinema side of things operates with real thought behind its programming, mixing independent films with classics to create something that genuinely serves the local community rather than just existing as a casual sideline.
Upper Tysoe itself is small and peaceful, but you're well positioned for exploring further. Shipston-on-Stour is just a short distance away and offers a proper market town experience with decent shopping and places to eat, making it natural to combine the two. Kineton is equally close by, and if you want to make a proper day of it, Stratford-upon-Avon is easily reachable by car. Whether you've come specifically for the marionette theatre or discovered it while wandering the North Cotswolds, it's the kind of place that genuinely stays with you.
