If you're looking for a walk that combines history with peaceful countryside, this section of the Three Choirs Way delivers both in good measure.
Starting from the Hollybush area and heading east towards Gloucester, you'll follow a route steeped in cultural significance. The path connects three cathedral cities—Gloucester, Worcester, and Hereford—which together host the historic Three Choirs Festival, so you're walking ground with real musical and religious heritage.
The route passes through Lassington, where you can explore Lassington Wood, an ancient woodland that's especially rewarding in spring when wildflowers bloom across the forest floor. Near here stand the remains of Lassington Church, a modest but atmospheric structure that speaks to centuries of local history. From the higher sections of the walk, the views open up across the Severn Vale, and on clear days you might spot the Malvern Hills in the distance.
The walk works well as a half-day outing, ending at Gloucester where you'll find cafes and pubs to rest and refuel, plus easy access to public transport if needed. It's the kind of walk that feels refreshingly quiet while keeping you connected to the places and stories that have shaped this part of the Cotswolds.
