The Hollows

This small hamlet sits quietly in the heart of the Cotswolds, offering a genuine feel for how the region's traditional communities developed.

You won't find much here in terms of attractions or facilities, which is rather the point—it's a place to appreciate authentic Cotswold architecture and countryside without the bustle of larger villages.

The buildings showcase the distinctive Cotswold style that emerged in the late 16th century and reached its peak during the 1600s. Look closely at the stone cottages and you'll notice the characteristic features that define the region: prominent chimneys often positioned near the front doors, steeply pitched roofs designed to shed the considerable Cotswold rainfall, and mullioned windows that break up the façades beautifully. Everything is built from local oolitic limestone, which gives the structures their warm, honey-colored appearance that seems to glow in afternoon light.

The hamlet works best as a walking destination rather than a destination in itself. It pairs well with exploring the surrounding countryside or combining visits to nearby towns like Chipping Campden or Moreton-in-Marsh, both within easy driving distance. You might stop here during a countryside ramble to appreciate how the landscape and building traditions interweave, or simply to photograph the stone buildings that represent genuine Cotswold heritage rather than the more commercialized versions found elsewhere.
