You'll find this National Trust property tucked away in Lower Wraxall, just beyond Bradford-on-Avon at the edge of the Cotswolds.

The real appeal here is the garden, which has been thoughtfully divided into separate outdoor spaces, each with distinct character and its own sense of calm. There are herbaceous borders, water features, and any number of quiet corners for sitting and thinking. The house itself is unpretentious but genuinely characterful, with a comfortable, inhabited feel that repays spending proper time inside.

What sets this place apart is how unforced it all feels. You won't find the polished, crowded experience you might get elsewhere in the National Trust collection—it comes across simply as a family home that happens to be looked after extraordinarily well. The village is small and tranquil, so most people combine a visit here with time in Bradford-on-Avon itself, which has far more activity in the form of cafes, independent shops, and various things to explore.

Spring and early summer work best for visiting, when the gardens are at their peak. This works better as part of exploring the wider Bath and Bradford-on-Avon area rather than as something to visit alone. If you're already spending time in either of those towns, it's definitely worth adding to your itinerary.
