The Camp

This small hamlet sits just outside Bourton-on-the-Water, one of the Cotswolds' most visited villages, and essentially functions as a residential extension rather than a destination in itself.

If you're staying in the area or exploring on foot, it's worth knowing about, though you won't find much here in isolation.

The real appeal is nearby Bourton-on-the-Water, which spreads across a wide, gentle vale and has genuinely earned its reputation as a walker's destination. The village centre develops around the River Windrush, which runs shallow enough in places that you can paddle through it, making the whole area remarkably easy to navigate on foot. Most of the historic core is designated as a Conservation Area, with honey-coloured stone buildings dating back centuries lining the main streets.

From The Camp, you're well-positioned to explore the surrounding countryside. Excellent walking routes connect to nearby villages like Bourton-on-the-Hill and Naunton, and the landscape is gentle enough for casual strolls but varied enough to remain interesting throughout. Bourton itself has pubs, tea shops, and a museum for when you need a break.

A practical advantage of staying here rather than in the village centre is that parking is considerably easier. You get access to this part of the Cotswolds without dealing with the crowds that gather right in the middle of Bourton.
