The Boathouse sits right beside the water in Pittville Park, one of Cheltenham's most rewarding spots to stop for a meal or simply spend some quiet time.
The real draw here is where it is—you can watch the lakes stretch out in front of you while you eat, which creates a genuinely peaceful feeling that seems completely separate from the town centre, even though you're only a few minutes' walk from Cheltenham's shops and busy streets.
Pittville itself developed in the early 19th century and has kept much of that original character. The park is generous with space, featuring two lakes, boat hire, and plenty to explore before or after you eat. The Regency and Victorian buildings dotted throughout give the whole area a sense of solidity and intention.
The Boathouse itself keeps things straightforward and unpretentious. You'll find good coffee and cake, light lunches, and comfortable seating where you can relax and think. It's genuinely welcoming for families, and the park around it means you can easily stretch a visit into a full afternoon. There's tennis, a 9-hole pitch and putt course, and children's play areas scattered about if you want to do more than just eat. Whether you're spending time in Cheltenham or passing through, this part of town is worth seeking out. It's the kind of place that reminds you what drew you to the area.
