Springlewood is a bed-and-breakfast located in Langley Burrell, a tranquil village that sits away from the main roads cutting through the southern Cotswolds.
The rooms are comfortable and the breakfasts are generous—exactly what you need before setting out to explore. It's a good base if you want to experience what Wiltshire has to offer without the fuss of busier locations.
Langley Burrell itself rewards a quiet wander. Stone buildings line the lanes, and there are lovely views across the countryside that make you feel properly away from things. The village doesn't have major attractions, but that's rather the point. The peaceful roads and open fields give you a genuine sense of rural life. If you want to range further, Chippenham is a short drive away and has a railway station with good connections to elsewhere. Head east and you'll find Malmesbury, an ancient Saxon town with impressive abbey ruins. South of there, Lacock is famous for its abbey and its remarkably preserved village center—you may recognize it from films and television. The wider area is historically rich, with Roman sites near Bath and medieval wool-trading towns scattered about, so there's plenty to discover without feeling swamped by visitors. If you're after a slower, less hectic way of traveling, Springlewood works well for that approach.
