Rousham is one of the few early eighteenth-century landscape gardens to survive largely unaltered.
It was laid out by William Kent (1685–1748) above the River Cherwell, and it is still a quiet, uncommercial place: there is no tea room and no shop, so bring a picnic.
The garden is open every day of the year from 10am, with last admission at 4.30pm, and closes at dusk. Children under 15 are not admitted. The house itself is a private family home, so a visit here is about the garden. Check the Rousham website for current admission details before you go.
