Restrop is a small hamlet that represents the quieter side of the Cotswolds.

It's essentially a collection of homes scattered across open countryside, where you get a genuine sense of what rural English life feels like without the crowds of more popular destinations. There's no particular agenda here—the appeal lies in slowing down, wandering along the country lanes, and absorbing the peace and space around you. The traditional homes and farm buildings dotting the landscape give you a real feel for how the area has developed over time.

What makes Restrop work as a base is its position between two counties. You're well-placed for exploring the surrounding landscapes of both Wiltshire and Gloucestershire on foot or by bike, with plenty of walking routes and cycling paths nearby. When you need to pick up supplies or grab a meal, Purton is just a short drive away and has shops and pubs. The historic market town of Cricklade is also within easy reach. If you need more substantial amenities or transport connections, Swindon is further afield but accessible.

This is really a place to come if you want genuine quiet and countryside rather than attractions and activities.
