Oxenton is a small village on the northern edge of the Cotswolds in Gloucestershire, sitting on slopes above the Vale of Evesham.

Rather than being tightly grouped, the handful of stone cottages and houses spread across green fields, with a working farm still operating at the community's heart. It's the sort of place where the pace of life feels genuinely different from busier areas.

The main draw here is the landscape and the walking it offers. St. Alexander's Church, a medieval structure, stands peacefully among trees and provides a focal point for the village. What's really special about walking from Oxenton is understanding how the Cotswolds actually formed—you can see and feel the golden limestone beneath your feet, the same stone that has defined the region's character for centuries.

From the higher ground around the village, you get good views across toward Tewkesbury and the Vale, and clear days let you appreciate how the landscape falls away from the Cotswold plateau. It's about eight miles north of Cheltenham or accessible from Tewkesbury if you're exploring the northern edges of the region.

You won't find shops or cafes here, and that's intentional. Oxenton works best for walkers and anyone wanting to experience the Cotswolds in their most rural, undeveloped state. It's a genuine retreat from busier tourist routes.
