This small village sits just south of Cheltenham in Gloucestershire, surrounded by the characteristic rolling hills and golden stone cottages that define this part of the Cotswolds.
It's a working village rather than a major tourist destination, which means you'll find genuine local life here rather than streets full of visitors. The village centers around its church and a scattering of traditional stone-built homes, many dating back several centuries. Walking through gives you a real sense of how communities in this region developed over time, with properties built from local Jurassic limestone that gives the Cotswolds its distinctive appearance. The surrounding countryside offers excellent walking territory, with footpaths leading through farmland and woodland typical of the area. It works well as a base if you want to explore the wider region without staying in busier, more famous villages. Cheltenham lies just a few miles north, offering shops, restaurants, and cultural attractions, while other notable Cotswolds towns like Winchcombe and Tewkesbury are within easy reach. The village is best experienced as part of a broader walking or driving tour rather than as a destination in itself. It's the kind of place where you can experience the Cotswolds' rural character at a slower pace, away from the crowds that congregate in the more well-known spots.
