Lydiard Plain

While Lydiard Plain itself is a quiet residential area, the real reason to visit is Lydiard Park, which sits right on its border. The park's main attraction is Lydiard House, a grand country house that served as the ancestral seat of the St John family for centuries. Inside, you can explore beautifully restored state rooms that give you a real sense of how the aristocracy lived back then.
