You might recognise this hamlet if you watched the BBC comedy series This Country, which put Little Ashley on the map when it ran from 2017 onwards.
The show was created by and starred siblings Daisy May and Charlie Cooper, and it managed to capture something genuinely funny about rural life in the Cotswolds—that particular blend of boredom, social awkwardness, and unexpected friendships that comes with living in a small village.
The hamlet itself is genuinely small, the kind of place where everyone knows everyone and very little appears to happen on the surface. That's rather the whole point. A visit here gives you a real sense of the landscape where the comedy was filmed, with its rolling fields and modest buildings that provided the backdrop to all those cringe-worthy and oddly touching moments between the characters.
There aren't really attractions within Little Ashley itself, but that's entirely authentic to what it is. The appeal is about experiencing the quietness and gentle countryside that inspired the show. It's located in Gloucestershire, within easy reach of larger Cotswolds towns like Cirencester and Gloucester, where you'll find proper shops, restaurants, and places to stay.
If you're a fan of the series, coming here offers a quiet walk through the actual setting. For others, it's simply a reminder of how much comedy and humanity exists in these small English villages that most people drive straight past.
