Over in Wiltshire, at the southern edge of the Cotswolds, the village of Gastard is home to a manor house that Harry Potter fans will recognize from the film series.

It appeared as Professor Horace Slughorn's residence in the movies, and spotting it is genuinely rewarding if you're into cinema history. Since it remains a private home, you can't visit the interior, but you can see the exterior from the road, which is enough to appreciate why the filmmakers chose it.

Gastard itself is a small rural village without much in the way of visitor infrastructure or attractions. The real draw here is for people who enjoy both film locations and the character of traditional English country estates. That said, you won't feel stranded. Corsham is just a short drive away and has plenty of interesting historic buildings to explore, plus cafes and shops. Chippenham is equally convenient and offers good accommodation and dining options.

If you're already exploring other Cotswolds sites in this area, Gastard makes for a satisfying detour if the Harry Potter connection resonates with you. It works best as part of a wider day rather than as a solo destination, but that's actually part of what makes this corner of England worth exploring. You get to piece together your own route and discover things as you go.
