Harry Potter Tree

in Woodstock

Illustration — photo coming soon

This particular spot in the Oxfordshire countryside holds special appeal for fans of a certain magical world.

It's not a grand estate or historic building, but a distinctive mature tree standing prominently in an open field near the quiet village of Bladon. You might recognise it as the Portkey location from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, where Harry, Hermione, and the Weasleys were transported to the Quidditch World Cup.

The tree itself stands on private land, so you won't be able to walk right up to it, but a public footpath runs nearby offering clear views of its solitary presence and its film connection. It's a wonderful reason for a gentle walk through the fields, taking in the peaceful rural landscape that characterises this part of the Cotswolds. Rather than a formal destination, it's more about the pleasure of discovering a cinematic landmark in an everyday countryside setting.

Once you've had a good look, Bladon itself is worth exploring. The village is known for its church, where Sir Winston Churchill is buried. Just a short drive away, the historic market town of Woodstock is home to Blenheim Palace and offers its own range of attractions, independent shops, and restaurants worth visiting.
