Just west of Grove village, this cycling hub serves as an excellent launch point for exploring the Vale of White Horse on two wheels.
There aren't specific attractions right here, but that's rather the point—it's all about the riding itself. From this location, you can access a network of quiet lanes and country routes that meander through Oxfordshire's rolling countryside, with views stretching towards the Berkshire Downs as the landscape opens up around you.
The cycling here suits all abilities. You might tackle a gentle afternoon loop through rural scenery and open fields, or use this as your base for a more ambitious ride towards the ancient Ridgeway path. Either way, you'll mostly see farmland, grazing animals, and the kind of peaceful surroundings that make the Cotswolds so appealing to cyclists.
Wantage sits just a short ride away and makes an obvious stop-off point. It's a proper market town with real character—King Alfred the Great was born here, and his statue dominates the market square. You'll find decent coffee shops, independent retailers, and enough reason to spend an hour poking around before heading back out. Grove itself has basic amenities to keep you going. The combination of good cycling terrain, quiet roads, and straightforward access to a historically significant town makes this a sensible spot to base yourself for a day of riding.
