Great Washbourne is a small working village in the northern Cotswolds, home to around 1,100 people and located about 15 miles north of Cheltenham, roughly midway between Tewkesbury and Evesham.

It's the sort of place where village rhythms still matter more than through traffic, and where you'll find traditional Cotswold stone buildings set within an active agricultural landscape.

The focal point is St Mary the Virgin church, which sits at the heart of the community. The surrounding countryside is excellent for walking, with gentle routes threading through rolling fields and country lanes. The Washbourne Brook runs through the parish, adding a natural feature to explore on foot. You can reach the village via the B4077 or the nearby A46, making it straightforward for a countryside drive or as a waypoint when exploring the wider area.

Great Washbourne works best as part of a broader Cotswolds ramble rather than a destination in itself, though that's exactly the appeal if you're after an authentic slice of village England without the bustle of more touristy spots. You're close enough to larger towns like Tewkesbury and Evesham for supplies or additional attractions, but far enough removed to feel genuinely rural. It's the kind of place where you might enjoy a walk, possibly grab a pint if a pub is open, and soak up the quieter pace of the countryside.
