You'll find this small hamlet just beyond Ilmington, a few miles northeast of Shipston-on-Stour, positioned right where Warwickshire transitions into the Cotswolds.

The real reason to visit is Foxcote House, an 18th-century country residence built around 1740, probably designed by Edward Woodward, an architect who left his mark on Georgian buildings throughout the region.

The house itself carries Grade II* listing status and stands as a solid example of mid-Georgian design. Its scale tells you plenty about the original owners' wealth and influence—inside are eleven bedrooms, five bathrooms, and a particularly striking hall with a mezzanine gallery spanning above it. The front gardens are substantial and well-kept, giving you a real flavour of what the estate once commanded.

The house remains private and isn't open to visitors, but the hamlet's location and architectural character make it worth the journey, especially as part of a longer walk through this less-crowded section of the region. Ilmington village itself has a pub and church if you want to explore further, and you're positioned conveniently for reaching Shipston-on-Stour when you need market town services, restaurants, or shops. The fields and country lanes surrounding the area are genuinely good for walking, offering a genuine sense of how the Cotswolds actually feel away from the busier routes. This is somewhere that benefits from an unhurried approach rather than a brief visit.
