This tiny hamlet sits close to where the River Thames begins, offering visitors a genuinely quiet corner of the Cotswolds without the crowds or commercialism you'll find elsewhere.

There are no shops or busy pubs to speak of, which is rather the point. Instead, you'll find yourself walking slowly along country lanes, passing traditional stone houses scattered across open fields, where the pace of life moves differently.

The most interesting building here is the former St. Giles' Church, which has been converted into a private residence. It's a good example of how these small communities evolve over time, adapting their spaces to new purposes while keeping their character intact. The conversion itself is worth noticing as you pass.

If you're after genuine tranquility and time away from things, this works well as a base. The market town of Cricklade is only a couple of miles away whenever you need shops, food, or other facilities. From here you're also well positioned for exploring further afield—Cirencester with its Roman heritage lies north, and the abbey town of Malmesbury sits to the southwest, both manageable as day trips. It's the kind of place to choose when you want stillness rather than activity, somewhere to settle before venturing out to discover the rest of the region.
