On the western edge of the Cotswolds lies a small hamlet where things move at their own pace.

This is genuinely quiet countryside, the kind of place where you can walk for hours without encountering crowds. The landscape here tells a different story from the rolling hills you might expect—you're closer to the River Severn floodplain, so the terrain has its own character, flatter and more open than the classic Cotswold scenery.

The hamlet itself is residential, but that's part of its appeal. There's no need for attractions here because the attraction is the space itself. Good local footpaths crisscross the area, offering easy walks through proper working countryside where you might spot wildlife going about its business. This is the place to come if you want to disappear for a few hours and actually feel disconnected.

For more substantial exploration, the historic villages of Leigh and Deerhurst are just a short drive away, both worth visiting for their remarkable old churches. When you want proper town facilities—restaurants, shops, that sort of thing—Cheltenham and Gloucester are both easily accessible and give you plenty of options for a proper meal out or an afternoon's browsing. But the real reason to be here is to do very little in a very pleasant setting.
