Emlyn Guest House is a reliable bed-and-breakfast in Swindon that works well as a practical base for exploring the wider region.

Sheppard Street, SN1 5DB

When you arrive, you'll get a warm welcome, and the rooms are comfortable enough for a proper night's sleep after a day out exploring. The breakfast is generous and will fuel you well before you set off each morning.

Although Swindon sits just outside the Cotswolds proper, it actually makes an excellent gateway to the area. You're only a short drive from the rolling countryside and appealing villages that draw people to the Cotswolds in the first place. The location lets you use the guest house as a hub for day trips into the hills, visiting places like Cirencester or Tetbury at whatever pace suits you.

Beyond the Cotswolds, Swindon also gives you convenient access to other worthwhile attractions. The STEAM Museum explores the town's important railway heritage, there are modern shopping centres if you need them, and plenty of dining options. Further afield, Wiltshire's ancient sites are within easy reach too—Avebury's stone circles and the historic market town of Marlborough are both reasonable drives away.

It's a sensible choice if you want the convenience of town facilities and good accommodation alongside easy access to the countryside and historical sites scattered across Gloucestershire and Wiltshire.
