This circular route follows the River Avon through countryside near the village of Eckington, offering a straightforward walk suitable for most abilities.
The path winds along the riverbanks past open fields and water meadows, giving you plenty of space to notice the birds that live along the water and take in views across the surrounding landscape. The name 'wharf' reflects the area's past as a centre for river trade, though these days it's a calm place where you might spot the occasional narrowboat gliding by. The route is easy to navigate and takes you back to Eckington village itself, where you can refuel at one of the local pubs or cafes after your walk. If you want to see more of the area, Pershore is a short drive away and famous for its abbey and heritage plum orchards, while Tewkesbury, with its impressive abbey and connections to the Wars of the Roses, is also nearby and worth a visit.
