Easington House is a bed-and-breakfast in Banbury that gives you comfortable rooms and a proper cooked breakfast before you head out exploring.
The location really works if you want to experience Banbury as a living market town rather than just pass through—it's got genuine character and history, not the kind of place that's been smoothed over for visitors.
You can walk from the guesthouse to Banbury Cross, the landmark from the old nursery rhyme, or take peaceful walks along the Oxford Canal. The town centre has a good range of independent shops, cafes, and restaurants, and there's a museum that covers Banbury's history including its medieval castle. There's real local life happening here that you don't get in the smaller Cotswold villages scattered around.
It also works brilliantly as a base for exploring further afield. The rolling countryside and villages that make up the Cotswolds are only a short drive away, so you can easily spend a day walking between hamlets or stopping for afternoon tea. Oxford, with its university colleges and museums, is close enough for a day trip, and Stratford-upon-Avon is within reach if you want to visit Shakespeare's birthplace. But equally, Banbury itself has enough going on that you won't feel like you're just using it as a jumping-off point—there's plenty to occupy an evening here.
