You'll find Cuckoo's Nest in Charlton Kings, a village that sits just outside Cheltenham but has managed to keep its own distinct character.
The shop itself is a small, carefully run place where the owner has chosen stock that you genuinely won't find everywhere else. It's the kind of space where you can browse without feeling rushed, whether you're hunting for an unusual gift or treating yourself to something special.
Charlton Kings is worth exploring in its own right. The buildings here carry real history, telling the story of what was once a proper community in its own right before Cheltenham expanded and absorbed it into the larger town. Walking around, you get a sense of how things used to be laid out, and there's a genuine local feel that hasn't been entirely smoothed away.
The location gives you useful flexibility. Cheltenham is close enough that you can easily pop in to see the Regency architecture, wander through the shops and restaurants, or catch one of the town's regular festivals if something's on. Head in the other direction and you're quickly into open countryside and the stone villages that define the Cotswolds landscape. Cuckoo's Nest works well as a stopping point if you want something a bit off the usual tourist trail but don't want to lose easy access to Cheltenham's conveniences.
