Crown Needlework is a working textile studio in Hungerford, a traditional market town where you can watch craftspeople at work, buy materials, learn new techniques, or simply appreciate the skill involved in needlework and textile arts.

Hungerford itself rewards a proper wander. The town has developed a reputation for antique dealing, and there's a genuine sense of continuity here—ancient rights and customs are still observed, most visibly during Tutti Day in April when the town celebrates traditions dating back centuries. The Kennet & Avon Canal runs through town, offering pleasant towpath walks if you want to stretch your legs or just sit and watch the water for a bit. It's a useful base for exploring further afield too, with Marlborough to the west and Newbury to the east both within easy reach.
Whether you're someone who actively creates or you're more interested in watching others work, Crown Needlework offers something worth your time. Most visitors leave with something handmade that carries a memory of the place. There's a different atmosphere here compared to some of the busier villages further north in the Cotswolds—quieter, more rooted in actual craft rather than just tourism.
