This small Cotswolds village has become well known in recent years as the primary filming location for the BBC's Father Brown detective series.

The stone cottages, village green, and surrounding countryside serve as the fictional setting of Kembleford, so if you're familiar with the show, you'll spot recognizable locations as you wander around.

Beyond its television fame, Burton is a traditional working village with genuine character. The settlement centres around its church and green, with period properties that authentically reflect Cotswolds architecture rather than being restored for cameras. There's a pleasant route around the village, and the surrounding countryside offers good walking opportunities across rolling fields and woodland.

The village is small enough to explore in an hour or two on foot, which makes it an easy addition to a broader Cotswolds itinerary. Nearby Painswick is just a short drive away and offers more substantial attractions including its famous churchyard and independent shops. Stroud to the south provides a larger market town with restaurants and amenities if you need them.

If you're planning a visit, weekdays tend to offer a more authentic village atmosphere than weekends. There's genuine charm here that extends well beyond the television connection, with good local pubs and a real sense of community that hasn't been overwhelmed by its on-screen popularity.
