You'll find this small hamlet right on the Gloucestershire-Warwickshire border, just a short drive from the market town of Chipping Campden.
It's primarily known as home to Hidcote Manor Garden, one of Britain's most celebrated Arts and Crafts gardens that draws garden enthusiasts from across the country.
Lawrence Johnston created the garden in the early twentieth century, and it remains remarkably influential in garden design today. What sets it apart is its distinctive structure of interconnected outdoor "rooms" separated by hedges, each with its own character and planting scheme. You'll encounter rare trees, established shrubs, and carefully composed herbaceous borders throughout the grounds. The garden transforms beautifully with the seasons, so there's always something new to see whether you visit during spring bulb season or autumn colour.
The hamlet itself is quiet and rural, which gives it a removed feeling despite being easily accessible and not far from busier tourist routes. If you're planning to visit the garden, allow a good few hours to explore properly—moving through too quickly would mean missing the thoughtful details Johnston incorporated into each space. The National Trust manages the property and provides a café and shop on site.
Chipping Campden, just down the road, has accommodation and dining options if you'd like to stay nearby and explore the wider area.
