This Oxfordshire village sits in the heart of the Cotswolds, about four miles north of Banbury, and has quietly become well known as the primary filming location for the BBC's Father Brown detective series.

If you've watched the show, you'll recognize the village green, the church, and various cottages that appear throughout the episodes, which adds a certain appeal to a visit if you're familiar with it.

The village centres around St Mary the Virgin, an impressive 14th-century church with genuinely striking architecture. The broad high street has a genuine working feel, with local shops and pubs that serve the community rather than existing solely for tourism. You'll find pleasant walking routes around the surrounding countryside, and the village works well as a base for exploring the wider Cotswolds area.

Road access from Banbury is straightforward, and you're well positioned for day trips to nearby attractions. The village is small enough that you can walk around it comfortably in an hour or so, taking in the locations you recognize from television if you're interested in that aspect. The Father Brown connection has brought visitors here, but it remains fundamentally a working village where locals go about their business, which is rather part of what makes it worth visiting.
