This small settlement sits along the Cotswold Way, the 102-mile walking trail that runs the length of the Cotswold Edge escarpment.

You won't come here for attractions or amenities, but rather as a staging post if you're walking the full route or exploring sections of it. The hamlet itself is quiet and rural, with just a handful of houses scattered along the path, and the real draw is the walking experience itself.

The Cotswold Way became a National Trail in 2007, and since then several new rights of way have been created, making navigation easier and opening up more of the escarpment for exploration. The trail passes through genuinely striking countryside, with views across the Vale of Evesham on clear days. If you're tackling a multi-day walk, Besford works well as a restful break between the busier market towns further along the route. Evesham and Tewkesbury are the nearest places with proper facilities like cafes and shops, both within reasonable driving distance.

This isn't somewhere to spend hours looking around, but if you're a keen walker or interested in the escarpment's landscape and geology, it's worth knowing about. It serves walkers well as a quiet, undemanding place to catch your breath and continue on.
