Hungerford is a town you can take at walking pace. Within a couple of miles you'll find around 25 places to shop, 17 for eating and drinking, nine services and three things to visit, which tells you most of what you need to know: this is somewhere to browse, sit down for a while, and browse again rather than tick off a list of attractions. There's just one place to stay close by, so plenty of people come for the day, arriving with a vague plan and letting the shopfronts decide the rest. A good few hours might start with a wander through The Emporium Antiques Centre, where several dealers share the floor and you can lose track of time between cabinets. Below Stairs of Hungerford is worth your attention too, and White Coco makes a gentler stop if you're after something for the house or a gift. When you're ready to sit down, Mio Fiore or The Tally Ho will see you right, and you can walk off lunch with another lap of the shops afterwards.
