Tucked away in the quieter eastern fringes of the Cotswolds, you'll find this tiny hamlet, centered around a significant historic watermill.
It's a really tranquil spot, a true taste of rural Oxfordshire life away from the busier tourist trails. The main draw is the impressive Venn Mill itself, a Grade II listed building that’s stood here since 1869. Originally a corn mill, it was later adapted into a pumping station, highlighting its long association with the local Ock stream and water management. While not always open for internal visits, you can admire the mill building from the outside and appreciate its architectural heritage and role in the area’s past. It’s an ideal place for a gentle walk along the Ock, enjoying the peaceful countryside and perhaps spotting some local wildlife. There aren't shops or bustling attractions here, just natural beauty and a sense of history. For amenities or a bite to eat, you're only a short drive from Garford, East Hanney, and West Hanney. Frilford, Marcham, and Tubney are also close by, offering further exploration of this lovely part of the county.
