This independent bookshop in Newbury is one of those rare places where you can genuinely settle in and spend hours without feeling rushed.
The shelves hold a genuine mix of new releases and secondhand books across all sorts of genres, so there's real pleasure in wandering through at your own pace, finding something unexpected or that particular edition you've been after. Whether you're hunting for your next read or looking for a thoughtful gift, browsing here rewards a bit of time and curiosity.
Newbury itself sits just south of the main Cotswolds touring area in Berkshire, rather than within the official Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, but it's a proper market town that stands on its own merits. It works well as a stopping point if you're moving through the Thames Valley region or travelling between the Cotswolds and elsewhere. Beyond the bookshop, the town has plenty to recommend it—the historic market square is worth a wander, and there are good walks along the Kennet and Avon Canal. For anyone who loves books, it's genuinely worth the detour. The town is easily accessible from Reading or Hungerford, so it's straightforward to fit into your wider travels through the area.
