This small hamlet consists of little more than a handful of traditional homes and farm buildings scattered across open fields and rolling downland.
There's no commercial activity here to speak of, and that's entirely the point. If you're after genuine quiet, this is where you'll find it.
The appeal lies in doing very little at all. Walking is the main activity, with local footpaths threading through the gentle landscape and offering views across the surrounding countryside. You're far more likely to encounter sheep than other visitors, and the soundtrack is birdsong rather than traffic. The hamlet's character is rooted in its agricultural history, which explains the form of the buildings that remain.
Don't expect to find cafes or pubs locally. Ramsbury, a short drive away, is a pleasant village with decent facilities. For a wider range of amenities, including antique shops along its high street, Hungerford is the larger market town nearby and worth visiting if you need to stock up on anything. But really, Prosperous serves one purpose: it's a place to step out of the everyday rhythm and experience the quieter side of the Cotswolds countryside. Come here to walk, breathe, and let the pace of rural life slow you down.
