This small village sits on the edge of a valley in northern Oxfordshire, just a few miles southwest of Banbury.

If you're looking for a quieter corner of the Cotswolds that feels genuinely lived-in rather than staged for visitors, this is it.

The village centres around its church and green, surrounded by local shops and pubs that serve the people who actually live here. The Church of Saint Mary the Virgin deserves a proper look—the medieval stonework is impressive, and the interior tells the story of centuries spent in this one place. From different spots around the village, you'll spot views across the farmland and up towards Hobb Hill, which rises above everything and helps you understand how the landscape fits together.

The A361 passes through, so you're not isolated—Banbury is within easy reach if you need the facilities of a proper town, and the road connections make it straightforward to explore other parts of the region. There are some nice walks through the surrounding farmland and valleys if you want to stretch your legs without going far.

What makes this place work is that it's genuinely functional. You won't find tour groups queuing for photos here. It's the kind of place where you can actually experience what village life in England looks like when you step away from the well-trodden paths.
