This 19-acre reserve spreads along Letcombe Brook just south of Letcombe Regis, combining chalk grassland and woodland in a way that really shows how the local landscape supports its wildlife.

The Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust looks after it, and walking through you'll find plants that love chalk soil, downland birds, and various insects that have adapted to these conditions.

The site has moved through several lives. It started as part of a manor estate, then operated as a scientific research centre until 2002, when it was converted into conservation space as part of a local planning agreement. That history shapes what you see today.

The walking routes are gentle and straightforward, making it accessible whether you're keen on birdwatching or just want to move through quiet natural surroundings. You can spend time here alone or combine it with exploring Letcombe Regis village itself, which is worth a look around. You're also within easy reach of Wantage and Abingdon if you want to venture further.

Spring and early summer offer the best experience when wildflowers are at their peak, though the reserve welcomes visitors year-round. There's no visitor centre, so checking ahead for access details and any seasonal closures before you visit is a sensible idea.
