From the Staverton area, you're well positioned to explore Cheltenham, one of England's most elegant spa towns.
The town's character is rooted in its 18th-century origins, when natural mineral springs brought it into prominence as a health resort. This heritage is reflected throughout in grand Regency architecture that defines the streetscape and gives the place a refined, spacious feel quite different from other Cotswolds settlements.
The Imperial Gardens and Montpellier Gardens are excellent places to spend time, offering green spaces that maintain the town's graceful atmosphere. Cheltenham has developed a strong reputation for festivals—literature, jazz, and science among them—so there's often something happening depending on when you visit. Shopping ranges from high street names to independent boutiques worth browsing. The Pittville Pump Room is an important historical landmark that connects you directly to the town's spa past and is definitely worth a visit.
Staverton itself serves mainly as a gateway to the region through Gloucestershire Airport, but it's perfectly quiet as a base. A short drive or bus journey takes you into Cheltenham's centre, where there's genuine historical interest and plenty to occupy a day or two. From here you're also within easy reach of other Cotswolds villages if you want to venture further afield.
