This small village sits directly on the Cotswold Way, the 102-mile long-distance footpath that runs along the dramatic edge of the Cotswold Hills.
If you're walking a section or attempting the entire route, Harvington works well as a stopping point with convenient access to some of the trail's most rewarding stretches.
The village itself is understated but walker-friendly. A handful of cottages and farms dot the rolling countryside, with views reaching across towards the Severn Valley. The main draw here is really the landscape and the walking. The Cotswold Way passes through on its route along the escarpment, giving you plenty of options whether you're planning a full day's hike or a shorter circular walk from the village.
The trail became an official National Trail in 2007, and since then several new rights of way have opened up to improve access. The walking varies between open grassland and wooded sections, with enough elevation change to give you a genuine sense of the escarpment's dramatic geography.
Winchcombe, about four miles away, has more substantial facilities including shops and restaurants if you need to stock up or prefer a base with more amenities. But if the Cotswold Way is your focus, Harvington's position makes it worth considering as a rest point during your walk.
