A small hamlet in the heart of the Cotswolds, Ford sits just a few miles from Moreton-in-Marsh and consists mainly of stone cottages and farmhouses scattered along a quiet country lane.

It's the kind of place you experience by wandering rather than ticking off attractions, but it rewards that approach with genuine architecture. Nearly every building here shows authentic Cotswold style that emerged from the late 16th century onwards, when local builders began working with the pale oolitic limestone quarried from these hills. You'll notice the characteristic steep roofs, the distinctive king mullion windows, and prominent chimneys that define 17th-century Cotswold construction.

Walking through Ford gives you a real sense of how these communities developed and what daily life looked like centuries ago, without the visitor numbers that crowd the more famous villages nearby. The surrounding countryside is excellent for walking too, with footpaths connecting to neighboring settlements and opening up views across rolling farmland. If you're based in the area or visiting Moreton-in-Marsh, Ford makes an excellent quiet afternoon detour. You get to see period architecture in its actual setting, lived in and maintained as genuine homes rather than preserved purely for visitors. It's a place that works best if you slow down and take time to look properly.
