The 17th-century Market House is striking and still functions as the heart of town life. The place has developed a genuine following for independent retailers, particularly antique dealers, so you'll find plenty worth exploring beyond this shop alone.
The town's proximity to Highgrove House, a royal residence, gives it additional appeal if that interests you. Spend an hour or two walking the streets, stopping for coffee, and checking out the other independent businesses. Tetbury works really well as a base for this corner of the Cotswolds. Cirencester is close by with its significant Roman heritage, and Malmesbury, home to a remarkable abbey, is similarly accessible. The three towns together make for a worthwhile day exploring the southern Cotswolds.
