Barton House is a bed-and-breakfast located in Bushley, offering a calm and restful base for exploring the northern reaches of the Cotswolds.
It's the kind of place where you can properly unwind between days of exploring, away from the bustle that characterizes some of the region's more popular spots.
From here, Tewkesbury is easily accessible—a historic market town that's worth your time. The town's most striking feature is its Abbey, a superb example of Norman architecture that dominates the skyline. The town centre itself has plenty to discover, especially if you're interested in the Battle of Tewkesbury from 1471, which you can trace through local walking trails and information boards scattered around. The converging point of the Rivers Severn and Avon adds to the character of the place, along with the period buildings that line the streets.
For walkers, the Malvern Hills are just a short drive away and offer genuine rewards—an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with excellent walking routes and far-reaching views across the landscape. If you prefer something less demanding, there are pleasant footpaths starting directly from Bushley for gentler outings.
The location strikes a good balance. Bushley itself remains quiet and unhurried, yet you're well-positioned for the northern Cotswolds' market towns. Worcester and Gloucester are both within easy reach if you want to explore larger settlements with more extensive facilities and additional historical interest.
